Detroit Tigers - Roby Thomas

Boy, was I excited after a harsh winter to see baseball start. With Edwin Jackson as part as are rotation, it is going to be exciting to see all the Tigers can provide. And the hopes that the 2009 season will not be a 2008 repeat.

Monday 4/6

Verlander got his start, but as you may of known, it sure as hell wasn't a good one. Three and two-thirds innings with eight earned runs? I'm thinking Nuke LaLoosh at the start of the season in Bull Durham. A good line in this balance sheet was that our very first hit (sadly in the fourth inning), was a Home Run by none other than our Goodwill Ambassador Curtis Granderson. My personal favorite Brandon Inge got himself a Home Run himself with two RBIs attached to it. But the Blue Jays kicked our rear ends in, eh? Lind, their aspiring DH was responsible for half of the runs knocked in for that game with six. It was also some rather interesting baseball when the Toronto fans at Left Field were throwing things on the field. Thus, having Leyland take the players off the field for Ten to Fifteen minutes. I've been to Toronto once, they don't seem like the kind of people who would pull this kind of shenanigans.

So, any chance that A.J. Burnett is the pitcher that sets the pace for the team? C.C Sabathia was brought in as the ace of their staff, but Joba Chamberlain says that, "each pitcher tries to out do the next." A healthy competition between men. A.J showed the most emotion on the pitchers mound so far. He seems to be the pitcher that likes to speak his mind the most, making him the most likely to be more accesible. That may lead him be the one that sets the pace for the team this season. Thoe other pitchers will try and out perform AJ's win. Because of Mr. Burnett, the team got their 1st win of 2009 season, and makes it the natural pace setter, but it may be no coincidence he won the first game. If he was a Brave, he would have been the ace for them. His potential to pitch tough might have gotten the pitchers to follow suit. I feel that this rotation might see Burnett with the most wins. Does anyone disagree?

So, the debate has not been heard from ever since the Yankees said, "Joba is a starter, he has #1 stuff", but do we really want to see Joba every 5th day, as opposed to 4x per week. Mo looks like he can close for 2more years, and then his deal is up. Do the Yankees think that they have a closer in the minor leagues. Mark Melancon, is said to be waiting in the wings. BUt, Joba, just has closer written all over him. Can't you see him doing the "Superman" after he closes the clinching game of a world series victory. I think that he is being handled the right way right now, but Ian Kennedy, and Phil Hughes are arms the Yanks have in minor leagues, and would be on any other teams 25 man roster. So let the debating begin, what year does Joba go to the bullpen. My bet is before the end of the season. we see him coming in the 8th inning instead of coming out.

Colorado Rockies - Cyndi Williams

A few of my friend and I are looking for Rockies fans around the Salt Lake City, Utah area who may be interested in catching some Rockies games at a bar a few times during the season.  We think it would be fun to drown out any noise created by DBacks and the Angels fans (as well as Red Sox fans) once in a while.  Problem is...we need Rockies fans.  There are plenty around SLC but we need those folks to step up.  Would anyone be interested?
