That is what the Toronto Blue Jays need at this point. David Eckstein, John MacDonald, Vernon Wells, Scott Rolen, B.J. Ryan and Gustavo Chacin all on the DL or just coming off it. </script> </body>The offense of the Toronto Blue Jays, even before all the injuries, was quite dismal to say the least. The Jays have not hit as well as they did in 2007 and when they did hit it was hard to cash those runners in. The defense has been okay but since acquiring David Eckstein, John Macdonald has not seen playing time even though he should and deserves it for his incredible defense skills last season.One bright spot this year is that the young pitching staff has been playing well with the likes of Shawn Marcum, Dustin McGowan and Jesse Litsch all pitching just as good as or even better than aces one and two Roy Halladay and AJ Burnett. The relief staff has been quite good with Brian Tallet and BJ Ryan, even with Ryan’s low number of innings pitched.The low point for the Toronto Blue Jays is releasing Frank Thomas, an all-star, a class act and a great player. Just because he had a bit of a slump, that doesn’t mean you should be releasing a once in a life time player like Frank Thomas. When they released him he was the team’s leader in home runs with four. Now the Athletics are enjoying having him back.Yes, the Toronto Blue Jays have a long road ahead of them especially with the Tampa Bay Rays having an amazing season. I said at the beginning of the season that the Rays will be fighting for third but the way the Yankees and Jays are playing the Rays could be second.
